Settling in and Beginning Demo

On friday morning I brought the camp trailer to the local coin-op car wash. The grime came off as did a lot of the paint that the sun had turned to powder. The smooth and clean aluminum should be relatively easy to prep for painting when the time comes.

We were attempting to stablize the trailer with stands when the tongue jack collapsed. The tongue landed on the block of wood between my Dad's feet. He was prepared for it to fail and had warned me that it would most likely happen. We got it back off the ground with the floor jack and put four stands under her. As you can see the wheelwell fell loose from the wooden frame and floor. All of the wood has rotted there and will have to be replaced. Hopefully the opposite side is intact and can be used as a pattern. We plan on repaneling the interior so all of the wooden structure will be exposed and repaired as neccessary.

Some interior views of the rig before rebuild. We really like how the kitchen area is located up front. This leaves room to make a very comfortable adult sized bed and have the option to include a bunk or cabinets over the bed. This model also has a floor to ceiling closet, which is unusal in a 12' trailer. The closet is left of the sink in the picture. There is a mirror on the door. The closet opens the possibility of a restroom...

Other than the wheelwell the most obvious water damage was the paneling near the ceiling vent. I removed the paneling to reveal insulation and a small amout of damage that will be easy to fix.

We spent the rest of our day removing fixtures and putting each in a labeled ziploc. We also took a lot of pictures to aid us when we put her back together.
